چکیده

Increases in population and economic growth in urban areas have led to a growing demand for goods and services by commercial and domestic users. This paper reviewed the analytical architecture of urban freight demand (UFD), and summarized two approaches to collecting and calibrating UFD, namely from macro and micro level. With time-access regulations and vehicle restrictions are increasingly used to improve social sustainability in urban areas, here points out that off-hour deliveries (OHD) or taking full advantage of daily road network capacity are alternative solutions if properly understand behavioral change of involved parties with the widely deployed ITS and GPS.

The issue of shared use urban freight facilities first received attention during the 1970's when it was observed that, while inter-urban freight movements were becoming increasingly efficient, there were significant diseconomies in the movement of freight via truck within urban areas. Early research suggested that shared urban freight facilities should be constructed so that trucking companies ...

Movement generation and trip distribution for freight demand modelling applied to city logistic

2 ABSTRACT The quantification of the freight movements occurring in each traffic zone, and then of the Origin-Destination trip tables due to the delivery of goods in the urban environment, is essential for evaluating the effects of any city logistic policy in terms of vehicle congestion and polluting emissions, based on the assignment of demand flows to the road network. To this end in the pres...

Demand for Freight Transportation in the U.S.: A High-Level View

Research on freight transportation has seen a tremendous increase in the last decades, yet it lags behind that on passenger travel, particularly at a macro-level suitable for nation-wide policy analysis. A key challenge in freight demand modeling is the availability of data on key drivers of demand such as cost, time, and trip length which usually is proprietary and expensive. Moreover freight ...
